How Long Does Home Siding Repair and Painting Take?
Schedule Free Consultation
When homeowners come to us with a re-siding project, we always get the same question (right after “What’s this going to cost?”): How long will it take?
It makes sense. You’re considering a James Hardie® product not just for the timeless style and to get the best return on your investment, but because you know no other product will protect your home the way HardiePlank® can. And the thought of ripping all the existing siding off your house and exposing it to the elements for days or weeks at a time is scary. But our Elite team takes every precaution to keep your home safe and to complete your project on schedule.
Our Primed & Paint re-siding projects can be executed in as little as 10 business days from start to finish, and the re-siding process can be broken into three stages: Demolition, Installation, and Painting.
Demolition – Day 1-2
Demo day is the first step of any home remodeling project. During demolition, we will remove and discard the existing siding, and then assess the condition of your structural substrate. We also use this opportunity to identify and replace any rotten window and door trim. At every step, our crew takes great care to leave all other elements on your home’s exterior, like downspouts and A/C units & connectors, in the same condition we found them.
Installation – Day 3-7
Now that the old material has been removed, we make sure to protect the exposed substrate. A water-resistant barrier (WRB), also called a “house wrap,” is installed first, to keep moisture from seeping into your home.
Then we get to work installing your new HardiePlank® and HardieTrim®. Our crews follow strict manufacturer specifications when installing your new siding, flashing and trim. Stud spacing is clearly marked and careful consideration is given to board layout, nailing patterns, etc. to provide you with an incredible finished product.
Painting – Day 8-10
Finally, after all the siding and trim is installed, all required areas are caulked and primed before being painted. The finishing touches are added, making sure all your windows, doors, boxing and accessories have a fresh coat of paint, to compliment the new HardiePlank® and HardieTrim®.
