  • How long does an estimate take?

We strive to provide a comprehensive Design Plan within 72 hours of your initial Discovery Call / Meeting. This can vary depending on the size and scope of the project and also during peak times.

  • How long before the work begins?

The time it takes to begin work varies on the season, weather and scope of work. Feel free to reach out to us directly for a free quote and time frame estimate!

  • How long will it take to complete?

A full roof installation typically takes 1-5 days, siding installation takes up to 2-3 weeks depending on the size of the project and window and door installations take 1-3 days. *Weather permitting!

  • Do we need to be home while the work is being done?

No, not in most cases. We use a secure client portal and the most up to date technology to communicate with you throughout the project to include updates, photos, videos, etc. We do, however, ask that you attend and participate in a pre-construction meeting. The only exception to this is in the case of window and/or door installations. We treat your remodeling projects as if it were our own residence, keeping your property safe and clean. Large remodeling projects may require a debris trailer on your property in a pre-approved area. Our crews will clean up daily and we will do a final clean of the jobsite at the conclusion of the project.

  • How do you communicate and keep me posted throughout the construction process?

Every customer is provided a user name and password providing them access to our secure client portal. You are able to manage your project, in real time, from start-to-finish from the portal or from the convenience from your smart phone / tablet. Your assigned Project Manager will also provide you with daily updates, pictures or text / email messages.

  • How do you schedule and respond to work during periods of inclement weather?

We track temperatures and weather patterns in your area and look for several days of clear, mild weather. If a flash storm appears, we use large tarps to protect your home.

  • What kind of labor warranty is offered?

A $175 Labor/Diagnostic/Trip Charge will apply on All NON-Warranty Calls. If we diagnose the issue you are reporting to NOT be related to our labor and work, there will be a fee for our diagnosis and solution. We will credit the diagnostic fee if you have the non-warranty repairs completed. We stand behind our work and are happy to come out and diagnose an issue, but if it is not related to our labor on the project, we have to charge for our time.

  • Are permits and inspections included?

Yes! If your project requires a permit, we will submit applications and schedule/coordinate all inspections.

  • Do you work on the weekends?

Typically, weekend work is not needed or required.

  • Do I need to do any preparations before the work begins?

Yes, we will provide you with clear instructions on how to prepare for your job so your personal belongings and property are secure and well cared for. When the time comes, if you have any questions, we are more than happy to assist!

  • How do you manage construction debris?

We treat your remodeling project as if it were our own residence, keeping your property safe and clean. Large remodeling projects may require a debris trailer on your property in a pre-approved area. Our crews will clean up daily and we will do a final clean of the jobsite at the conclusion of the project.

  • How do you handle additional repairs or work outside of the predetermined scope of work?

Our Design Consultants do their very best to capture all recommended repairs during the assessment and bidding phase. However, there are times where damage is concealed and not visible from the ground level. If additional work (i.e. change orders) is necessary, our Project Managers will discuss the repairs, what is required, any impact on schedule and a cost. Change Orders are easily tracked through our secure Client Portal for you to see and access as well.

  • What kind of paint do you use and how is it applied?

Here at Carolina Exteriors, we use Sherwin Williams paints and stains. However, if you have a specific brand of paint you wish to use, simply discuss this with us at your Design Consultation. Our application methods are a combination of airless sprayer and brush.

  • What James Hardie colors and products are offered?

James Hardie® Siding and Trim is available in primed (paint ready) and ColorPlus. ColorPlus pre-finished products come in a wide variety of colors including the new Dream Collection colors. James Hardie® offers a complete line of lap siding, vertical siding, shake/shingle siding, trim and soffit – we will be happy to discuss their full line of products at your Design Consultation.

  • How long does James Hardie® siding last?

James Hardie® siding has a 30-year warranty from the manufacturer. James Hardie® fiber cement is more durable and lasts longer than vinyl siding and requires less maintenance than cedar siding. It is non-rot, does not absorb water, won’t buckle or warp, is hail & fire resistant and unlike OSB siding products, it does not allow insects, pests or birds to penetrate.

  • Is James Hardie siding worth it?

James Hardie siding is a great, environmentally friendly choice for overall curb appeal and home value. It will give your home a new look and feel to it. It is an attractive choice with guaranteed durability and quality. It provides an amazing return on investment.

  • Is Hardie board made in the USA?

James Hardie operates in 11 manufacturing facilities in the United States, two corporate offices, and a research facility. On top of that, field sales and marketing positions cover even more territory, building a very strong company community. Today James Hardie is a world-leading manufacturer of fiber-cement building products with manufacturing operations in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

  • What are the benefits of Fiber Cement Siding vs. Vinyl?

Hardieplank is 5x thicker than vinyl with superior color technology, a more natural wood grain appearance, resists heat and UV damage and is eco-friendly. Hardieplank has also been installed on over 5.5 million homes and is backed by the Good Housekeeping Seal.

  • Do you provide estimates for pre-sale homes?

No, we do not offer appraisals, ballpark estimates or pre-sale evaluations to assist in the buying process. We are always happy to meet with the legal property owner.

  • Do you do small repairs?

We currently do not have a Service Department and therefore have a $3500 job minimum. An initial diagnostic fee of $175 will be charged for small projects or repairs. We will then provide you a quote for the full scope of work and if you select Carolina Exteriors as your contractor, the diagnostic fee will be credited toward the cost of the work.

  • How do I file a warranty claim?

In the event of a warranty claim, please send an email to warranty@carolinaexteriorsplus.com with your description, photos, etc. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.
